The Department of Sociology attracts outstanding graduate students from around the world, forming a community of around 100 scholars supported by excellent facilities and a shared commitment to advancing the discipline.

Each year, around 30 students join our MSc and MPhil programmes, building strong theoretical and methodological foundations for advanced research. A further 80 students pursue original research through the DPhil

At undergraduate level, Sociology is studied as part of three interdisciplinary degrees: Human Sciences; Philosophy, Politics & Economics; and History & Politics.

Our students come from the UK, across Europe, and around the globe, creating a diverse and dynamic learning environment. While many graduates go on to academic careers, others take up influential roles in government, diplomacy, and the private sector.
