Pablo's work focuses on understanding the mechanisms of social stratification and inequality, drawing on approaches from across the social sciences. His current research examines the unintended consequences of institutional designs and policy reforms, particularly in education and labour markets.

Methodologically, Pablo develops and applies tools to make causal inference more credible and transparent in complex social settings. His broader interests include machine learning, network analysis, complexity science, and multi-agent simulation.

Before joining the Department, Pablo was a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow in Sociology at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. He is currently an Associate Researcher at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science and is affiliated with the Practical Causal Inference Lab and the Inequality Data Science Lab at UCLA.
